This project is based in NASA’s Ultra-Strong Composites by Computational Design (US-COMP) Space Technology Research Institute, aimed at developing new materials to meet stiffness and strength demands relevant to space applications. The project aims to develop systematic design methods based on topology optimization that capture and fully leverage the promising properties of Carbon Nano Tube (CNT) composites. Research focuses on material design both at the macroscale and at the mesoscale, including optimizing the layup of CNT plies and the design of structural components built from CNT laminates.
